A particular focus this year to develop within our business has been our Aquatic Therapy offering. We’ve brought on board a Paedeatric Physiotherapist to help guide our learning and service privision and had further staff training with inclusivity partners to help bolster how we deliver our Programme.

At Swimming Buddies, we’ve always believed the water is more than just a place to learn strokes – it’s a powerful space for therapy, growth, and connection. But what actually is it?

The benefits we’ve seen for our Buddies have been incredible:

  • Building strength and coordination without strain

  • Calming sensory systems through the gentle resistance of water, helping our children regulate

  • Giving children the freedom to move in ways that land sometimes doesn’t allow

  • Supporting confidence, regulation, and joy through play in a safe environment

We’ve had the privilege of working alongside families, therapists, and children with a wide range of needs and every single session reminds us why we do what we do.

Aquatic therapy is not just an “add-on” for us. It’s at the heart of our mission to create inclusive, meaningful experiences in the water. Watching children achieve milestones, big and small, is what drives our team forward.

This is an area we intend to really help grow over the next few years - to help more families in NI and beyond. Exciting times.
